On my last free weekend before classes start again, my friend Jeremy and I decided to take a trip to Leipzig. Despite my initial fears that everything would be closed for the Easter Holiday, we got to do a quite a lot...a very memorable trip.
The view of Leipzig from the top
For some reason I have the desire to watch Lord of the Rings again....hmmm
Das Völkerschlachtdenkmal - an unbelievably massive monument built in 1913 to commemorate the defeat of Napoleon 100 years earlier - Enlarge the picture just to see how small the people are in comparison to this thing
A statue of a scene from Goethe's Faust above the Auerbachs Keller - A favorite hangout spot of Goethe's, and it also appears in the play. Surprisingly, the food was quite good and reasonable for a famous tourist attraction.
Das neue Rathaus
St. Peterskirche
Jeremy singing in front of the Opera House to see if we could pick up a little extra money
Bach was also the Choir Director for the last 30 Years of his life there, and is buried in the sanctuary
The Thomaskirche - Jeremy and I attended a wonderful Easter Service here
German BBQ - Renaissance Style
Das alte Rathaus (Old Town Hall) with a Renaissance Festival on the Square
